Have you ever considered that another’s view isn’t wrong, just different? We are the builders of the frames we view the world through. Our experiences, our values, our biases, our judgments, our preferences, our stories, help to build and shape the ‘windows we look out of each day. No one else can remodel or replace my window – it’s mine. When I am caught up in only seeing things through “my view” my meditation teacher will ask me, “do you want to be right, or do you want to be free?” It takes self-awareness and compassion to consider that “my window” is just “my window” and not all the windows, and how important it is to widen my view. As a photographer, I am looking through a small window, also known as the viewfinder, in my earnest attempt to capture a moment. I am often surprised that what I think I am capturing is not what the camera sees as I review my pictures. It takes a lot of patience, compassion, and reframing to try and have these two perspectives align. As you peruse my website I invite you to pause and look through my windows to get a glimpse at some of the ways I see and experience intimacy, wonder, and joy.
